Phobia : An Irrational Fear

Phobia is an Irrational and unrelenting fear of a situation, activity, or thing that causes one to want to avoid it. The word “Irrational” is the most important thing which causes discrimination in between Norman fear and a Phobia. A shark in our swimming pool or a tiger in our garden can frightened any of us so it can not be in the category of ‘Phobia’ but if a bomb blast in middle –East makes you afraid then it can a phobia.

Causes of Phobia –
Technically Phobia is an emotional or mental disorder. A combination of biological and environmental factors are generally cause of Phobia These factors involve emotional trauma, disturbances and unpleasant situations. There are different kinds of emotional traumas and unpleasant situations that are often stored in a person’s memory. Sleep Disorder : Disturbance in Sleep

Till now I have given you information about many disorder their symptoms and treatment too. Today I am going to tell you about the most commonly present disorder and this is Sleep Disorders. ‘Sleep’ i.e. ‘Rest’ is, after food, the most important thing for all living being and if one is victim of this disorder he or she will not be able to sleep enough. Thus sleeping disorder disturbs the whole life of the victim.

Sleep Disorders –
A sleep disorder (somnipathy) is a medical disorder of the sleep patterns of a person or animal. Some sleep disorders are serious enough to interfere with normal physical, mental and emotional functioning. A test commonly ordered for some sleep disorders is the polysomnography.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) :Excessive Worry about General Things

All of have some general problems and some worries too but some people worry too much about daily life things that it interfere in their life. This stage is called Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD).

What is Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)?

Generalized anxiety disorder is characterized by persistent, excessive, and unrealistic worry about everyday things. People with the disorder, which is also referred to as GAD, experience exaggerated worry and tension, often expecting the worst, even when there is no apparent reason for concern. They anticipate disaster and are overly concerned about money, health, family, work, or other issues.

The difference between “normal” worry and GAD -

Worries, doubts, and fears are a normal part of life. It’s natural to be anxious about your upcoming SAT test or your finances after being hit by unexpected bills. The difference between ‘normal’ worrying and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is that the worrying involved in GAD is much more frequent and disruptive.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder(OCD) :Habit of Doing Things Repeatedly

One of my friends has a habit of washing hands many times. He washes his hands at least 50 times in a day and every times he takes 2 to 3 minutes. Recently I came to know that he is actually suffering from ‘Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)’ .So if you know some one having same type of problem, help him. In this disorder obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors become so excessive that they interfere with daily life. And no matter what you do, you can’t seem to shake them and yes don’t be confuse with Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder. That is a different thing and I will tell you about that later on.
